My Tuesday Is Your Monday

So here are some details about my life.

I live on an island named Kwajalein.
Pop.- 1800

# of military personel- 14

# of top secret things going on here- 5 trillion

avg. day temp- 85 F

avg. night temp- 75 F

avg. humidity- 70%

It rains everyday in the morning for about 20 min.

Avg. daily percipitation 1" (yeah, it's an intense 20 minutes)

Rain always comes from the pacific (which is our east coast)

Wind always comes from the pacific, and it never stops (but it is generally a gentle breeze)

I have my own room, and I can hear the ocean crashing from my window.

I see the sunrise over the pacific every morning during my 6am run

I watch the sunset into the lagoon every evening as I lay on the beach.

The feeling of community is overwhelming here. There are no free loaders. Everyone here serves a purpose in the community (often 2 or 3 e.g. the dentist is also the sailing instructor).

The work week is Tuesday-Saturday so that we can align with the mainland.

The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) consists of 33 seperate islands.

Total land mass of the RMI- 73 square miles.

The 33 miles lie in a section of ocean that spans an area that would go from southern Louisiana to southern Minnesota, and from the Rocky Mountains in CO to Mississippi's eastern border. These islands are microscopic.

I run a wilderness survival camp for teens each morning from 9-11:30, then I have an hour lunch break, and return to supervise the Teen Center from 12:30-4:30.

Tomorrow we will be fashioning our own fishing rods out of materials we can scavage and then we are going fishing. We will bait our hooks with squid.

I am, in fact, in paradise. But, this does not mean that I do not miss you all.

Jesus. That sounds absolutely amazing. I can't think of anything funny to say, because it just sounds cool. Sorry to disappoint you, Scott. I can see why you pimp out this program for the rest of the year. Hey, wait a second, maybe this is your reward for collecting some ridiculously high number of CA-Pimp Points, and all the poor suckers that you got to sign on ended up in some really lame appointment somewhere less glamorous, cleaning out latrines. Perhaps I have an overactive imagination. Anyway, have fun out there!

First of all, Mr. Wizard died. Nope, he was not already dead; he died yesterday.

Secondly, I hate your life. Actually I love your life, and I hate my life.

Do you get bored? How many teenagers do you have? Any cool stories about any of them? Do they follow you around everywhere?

Wow, I thought life was sweet when I got to lay out at the park behind my house today...until I realized it was missing a beach, a lagoon, a beautiful sunset, a topical climate... I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, and I want to see pictures :-) Miss ya, Pam

P.S. I'll work on 'something funny' for next time.

You lucky son of a gun.
I'm super jealous about the placement, and I'm kicking myself for not jumping on the opening! Are your kids cool, and since there's not many milit. personnel, are there typical grocery stores and shops?
Wow, it really sounds like you are going to have an AMAZING summer...have fun (as if I needed to say it)

Yeah Iowa City is a tropical paradise too!

I hate you. You are living my fantasy. I have always been the one who loved the beach. You suck. Meanwhile I get to work in Iowa. But on the plus side of things, the civil suit was dropped against me!

I cannot tell you how jealous I am of your life right now. Although, Milwaukee does have a big lake.... Miss you!
